UBC Faculty of Education organizes, delivers and participates in a wide variety of educational conferences, symposia and institutes. These events aim to bring together educators from across the globe and provide a forum for discussion, exploration and sharing of knowledge.

To register in a conference, visit the program page by clicking on the event title. Registration details and links to the secure pay portal are included on each program page.

What is the cost?

Conference registration fees are determined per program, and will be listed on the webpage of each program.

Your registration will be confirmed upon receipt of full fees.

Methods of Payment:

We accept payment in the form of Visa, MasterCard, and Interac (debit cards from: Royal Bank, Scotiabank, CanadaTrust and Bank of Montreal only).

For some conferences, we may accept payment via cheque or money order (payable to "UBC" in Canadian dollars only), or cash at the event. If this option is available for your program, you will see the pay later option on the payment screen.

Please note that cheques must be received within 5 business days of your online registration in order to confirm your place in the course.

What is the Refund Policy:

Course Cancellation:
In the case of a course cancellation, UBC will issue a full refund.

Participant Cancellation:
Check the program webpage for information on cancellations and refunds.

N.S.F. Cheques:

All N.S.F. cheques are subject to a $30.00 Administrative Fee.

How do I obtain a tax receipt for my conference registration?

Conference fees may be tax deductible under paragraph 118.5(1)(a) of the Income Tax Act. HST #108161779RT0001.

Tax receipts are only valid for registrants whose fees have not been reimbursed by an employer or other organization. The email receipt you received upon completing the online registration and payment can be used as a tax receipt.

Does completion of a conference qualify for academic credits toward a diploma or degree program?

Typically conferences are non-credit and can not be transferred to a program.

I'm a UBC employee. Can I access funds to register for conferences?

UBC Human Resources administers professional development funds for several employee groups at UBC. Further details can be found here.

Tuition Fee Waivers are not applicable to conferences at this time. Read more here.

I am a teacher who has a Tuition Fee Certificate. Can the certificate be used to pay the conference registration fees?

No. Tuition Fee Certificates, issued by the UBC Teacher Education Office, may not be used for conferences at this time.
